Need more wire map terminators?
« on: November 08, 2017, 06:30:57 AM »
If anyone needs more wire map terminators, I am now making and selling them.  See: http://jpelectron.com/hardware

 - These substantially reduce your time walking between the wall jacks and the patch panel if you just load up a bunch of jacks with terminators and then only have to move Pockethernet around on the opposite end.

 - These can be a replacement if you lost or left behind your genuine Pockethernet terminator.

 - These can be a replacement if you fried your genuine Pockethernet terminator by plugging it into a passive or legacy POE PSE port, or a T1/T3 smart-jack by mistake.  P.S. don't do that.

 - These are drastically cheaper then comparable options like the Fluke CableIQ Remote Identifier Kit, yikes!

If you want to build your own, you can do that too: http://jpelectron.com/sample/Electronics/CAT5-%20Pockethernet%20Wiremap%20Terminator.gif

If you want to see a video how I'm doing it, look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qjqr29znRIM

P.S. If you attempt to build your own, you can't possibly break your Pockethernet by plugging in a "not quite right" terminator, but you can get erroneous/bad results/readings when running the wiremap test - bad results can be frustrating - as are forum posts complaining of malfunction when not admitting to using your own terminator, that can be misleading - for these reasons, I would encourage you to TEST, TEST, TEST any self-made terminators before using in the field - my terminators are quadruple tested: a) direct connection after soldering b) direct connection after glue and shrink-wrap c) connection via 100ft patch cord d) direct connection again before shipping to you.

Completely passive, who'd have thought...
I'm going to try to make one with the resistors in the 8P8C plug.
I brake... For lanparties!
... Also: can't apply avatar settings on this forum.
