BER Test issues
« on: June 06, 2017, 03:58:13 AM »
I mentioned this in another BER test issue thread, but that issue was resolved and this one remains so I'll list it again here.

When running a BER test, if I use one of the larger tests, 1000/1518/10M, I'll start out getting a 0 error rate, then after 1m or so, start getting errors, and the error rate increases at a higher and higher rate the longer the test runs.  This happens on known good cables, even the included PE cable.  I'm going to go ahead and assume the problem is either with the app or with the PE hardware, not with every single cable I've tested :)

It's slightly delayed, it will be released tomorrow since we're including a few more fixes and improvements.

If you update the firmware to V28 this issue should be resolved

It looks like BER issues are back in v29.  Gigabit tests seem to work but 10M and 100M tests seem like they are not actually doing anything and the results return quickly with the number of packets always = 10,000 for 100M or 1000 for 10M

It should be faster than before since we made some improvements, but it should still take a bit. On e.g. 100mb, 100k packets. How long does it take then? Or can you verify it by connecting PE to a pc and test it with wireshark.

With latest iOS version, 2.61 and v29 firmware, BER is working perfectly again.  In the app under Tools/ Info, it says 2.6i   not sure if that is a typo.
